Make a list and check it twice!

With Christmas just weeks away, it’s easy to get carried away and spend, spend, spend to ensure the day is perfect. Whether you’ve started your shopping or not, it’s not too late to have a cost-effective Christmas with our money saving suggestions!

Create a budget. Control your Christmas spending and work out what you can afford by planning a budget for presents and food, etc. This makes it easier to stick to keep an eye on your expenses and resist impulse buys.

Make a list. Write a list of items you need to buy. This allows you to plan out exactly what you need to buy. This is also helpful in preventing those impulse buys!

Find hidden local online bargains. Check out local online selling sites for gift ideas at bargain prices such as eBay or Gumtree.

Chat to family and friends for free via the web. Don’t spend a fortune on long distance phone calls. Talk for free using apps such as Skype or FaceTime.

Save money with a Secret Santa. Buying presents for a large group of people? Why not get involved in a Secret Santa? Not only does this keep the costs down but you can have fun guessing who your Santa is!

Get crafty! Why not show your creative side or get the kids involved and rustle up some homemade wrapping paper or cards?
